During a visit to Lagos Island, TFA CEO Abby Olushola and the team met the Executive Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government, Hon. Prince Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan. Reliable electricity emerged as a pressing local priority.

The conversations explored solar power, decentralised energy systems and the potential to connect urban waste recovery with energy generation. Waste-to-energy stood out as a way to consider two connected challenges together: growing waste and demand for reliable power.

TFA Climate’s proposed Waste to Worth programme would explore practical routes for organic waste, suitable plastics and paper. Site selection, feedstock quality, technology and local demand would guide project development.
